AI governance
AI governance is the policies, controls, and oversight an organization applies to AI use — who may use what, with which data, under whose review, with what evidence.
AI governance is the management system around AI: acceptable-use policy, tool approval and inventory, data rules, human oversight, incident response, and the records proving all of it operates. Frameworks like NIST's AI RMF and ISO 42001 give it structure; regulations like the EU AI Act make parts of it mandatory for covered uses.
Effective programs pair paper with telemetry. A policy without visibility into actual usage governs an imagined organization; discovery and prompt-level controls supply the facts — which tools, which teams, what almost leaked — that make governance real.
