Voice cloning
Voice cloning is AI replication of a specific person's voice from sample audio — a biometric-data processing activity with consent obligations, and a fraud vector when abused.
Voice cloning builds a synthetic model of a specific person's voice from recorded samples, then generates arbitrary speech in it. Modern tools need minutes — sometimes seconds — of audio, which meeting recordings supply in abundance.
Privacy regimes increasingly treat voiceprints as biometric data: GDPR puts them in the special-category tier and Québec's Law 25 requires disclosure and consent for biometric systems. Cloning a colleague's or client's voice without documented consent is a compliance incident even before any misuse; cloned-voice fraud is the misuse.
