Deepfake
A deepfake is AI-generated audio, video, or imagery that convincingly imitates a real person — used in fraud, impersonation, and disinformation.
Deepfakes are synthetic media — video, audio, or images — generated to convincingly depict a real person doing or saying something they didn't. Voice cloning and video generation tools have made production cheap: a few minutes of sampled audio can be enough to imitate an executive on a phone call.
The enterprise risks run both directions: inbound (deepfake-enabled fraud, such as fake CEO payment instructions) and outbound (employees feeding real colleagues' voices or likenesses into consumer generation tools, creating consent and biometric-data problems).
